هردو زمان انجام كار را نشان مي دهد

بعد از during اسم يا عبلرت اسمي به كار مي رود
- We were busy during the weekend.
- During the night the cat woke me up.
- The Athenians suffered heavy losses during the battle of Salamis.

بعد از حرف ربط while فعل و فاعل مي آيد
- We went shopping while you were sleeping.
- You shouldn't eat while you are in the library.
- While I was working I got an email from Tamara.

When / While
را هرگاه 2 كار همزمان اتفاق مي افتد استفاده مي كنيمWhen وwhile
هرگاه دو كار زمان بر در يك زمان انجام شود معمولا از whileاستفاده مي كنيم
- "While you were studying I went out shopping." Studying and shopping are actions.
هر گاه دو امر كوتاه مدت لحظه اي اتفاق مي افتد معمولا از whenاستفاده مي كنيم
- "When I saw you I didn't recognize you." I saw you and I didn't recognize you are individual events.
- I heard you when you opened the door.
"While I saw you I didn't recognize you."
هر گاه در موقعيت زمان بري هستيم و در آن زمان امري لحظه اي (كوتاه مدت)اتفاق مي افتد از هر دو واژه استفاده مي كنيم
- "When I was in Rome I met my wife." - "While I was in Rome I met my wife."
- "I cut myself while I was cooking dinner." - "I cut myself when I was cooking dinner."
